The Lieser and Maltatal Valley, nestling between the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Nockberg Mountains, is also known as the valley of the tumbling water. Especially the youngest get here what their heart desires: water adventure park, fairy tale hiking mile, treasure hunt in the Donnerschlucht Gorge, high rope park or the ”Haus des Staunens“ (House of Wonders) - there is no time for boredom here.
There is quite something for the older ones too. Whitewater rafting and canyoning through the ravines with waterfalls and tarns provide a certain adrenalin kick. Fishing on the other hand is more relaxing. The Lieser and Maltatal Valley is home to 60 fish species in crystal-clear mountain streams and alpine pasture lakes - an Eldorado for fishing enthusiasts.

A drive along the 35 km long Nockalmstrasse is an unforgettable experience for connoisseurs and nature lovers. But an excursion to the Kölnbrein Dam Wall - the highest in Austria - is also a must. The drive leads along a 14-km long toll road which is characterised by mountain tunnels, hairpin bends and many waterfalls.

Another excursion destination in the Lieser and Maltatal Valley is Europe’s only private Porsche Car Museum.

Winter sport on Carinthia’s sunniest slopes - Goldeck, Katschberg, Innerkrems. Whether skiers, snowboarders, children, snow bunnies or ski pros - there is fun and action for everyone. The snow-reliable Lieser and Maltatal Valley also offers winter fun away from the piste. Snowshoe tours, cross-country skiing, ice skating, tobogganing, ice climbing and ice stock curling are great alternatives.
