The magnificent Großarltal Valley – the valley of alpine pastures

The idyllic Grossarl Valley is located in the south of the province of Salzburg. Due to its unusually large number of mountain huts, it is affectionately known as the "Valley of the Alms." Between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level, you will find around 40 alpine huts – some with livestock, some without – offering regional delicacies, genuine hospitality and impressive views. Whether you're traveling on foot, by bike, or on touring skis in winter, the alpine huts of the Großarltal Valley are a popular destination for nature lovers and connoisseurs all year round.

Many kilometers of hiking trails lead through deep forests and lush green meadows at the foot of the Hohe Tauern mountains to mountain huts offering food and drink. Whether you are looking for a leisurely hike with the whole family or a high-altitude tour, all mountain sports enthusiasts will find what they are looking for on vacation in the Grossarl Valley. There is much more to discover, such as exciting climbing routes, mountain bike trails, tennis courts, golf courses and Nordic walking trails.

In winter, the Dorfgastein-Großarl ski area offers around 70 kilometers of well-groomed slopes and a snow park for freeskiers and snowboarders. But that's not all: because the ski area is located in Austria's largest ski region, "Ski amadé," the Großarltal valley is the gateway to a 760-kilometer ski world! All of this can be explored with just one ski pass. Wide slopes, deep snow slopes, guaranteed snow and cozy huts for a break await you!
