A different, new path was taken, which led to the UNESCO designation as a biosphere park. "Gentle" tourism took hold, and today it has been proven that agriculture, flora and fauna, nature and tourism can all coexist. The gently rolling peaks reach a maximum altitude of 2,441 meters, which makes many strenuous activities easier.

Enjoyable hikes or mountain bike tours lead out into the mountains of Turracher Höhe, Falkert, Hochrindl and Innerkrems. Together with biosphere park rangers, you can explore and observe the valuable natural and cultural landscape. Along the way, breathtaking views of gentle alpine pastures, sparkling mountain lakes and dense forests open up. With a little luck, you may even spot marmots, golden eagles or rare alpine plants.

The Nockberge Mountains are not only famous for alpine winter sports in the ski resorts of Turracher Höhe, Hochrindl, Innerkrems, Heidi Alm Skipark and Bad Kleinkirchheim. The lake landscapes are transformed into romantic ice rinks. Ski touring routes, winter hiking trails and an extensive network of cross-country ski trails provide variety for a "gentle" winter vacation.
