The old alpine hut with its massive stone walls is just as pristine as the impressive landscape around the Kolm Saigurn area with the famous Rauris primeval forest, ponds, lakes, and moors.
- The alpine landscape is wild and romantic with fragrant herbs and a babbling brook that keeps children busy for hours building dams and sending boats they made themselves into the race.
- Nature guarantees action and activity here, and it's easy to do without the internet and TV.
- The grown-ups relax with a barbecue and plan excursions. Refreshing drinks are cooled with ice-cold mountain water in the well.
Our tip: On hot days, hold your forearms in the cold well. The temperature in your body is lowered and you keep a cool head. Simply wonderful!
True cosiness in a quaint ambience
This alpine hut can tell stories of times gone by.
Creaking floorboards and sooty ceiling beams tell us about the cooking and heating in the former "Rauchkuchl" smoke room.
The large wood-burning stove heats the whole hut on cool days. But it can also be used to cook tasty dishes typical of the region. "Kasnockn", for example, are sure to turn out particularly well click here for the recipe . The best place to get the right ingredients is the owners' farm shop.
High-quality products from their own farm are sold here. Those at home always appreciate the delicacies from the mountains.
The surrounding serviced huts tempt you with their delicacies. So, forget about the cooking spoon and enjoy being treated.
The cosy living room is the heart of the hut. Modern comforts have been introduced with new tiled floors, running water and an electric cooker. The modern bathroom with shower and washbasin is also well equipped.
The cosy sleeping quarters beckon after a long day of gold prospecting, hiking, e.g. to the Steinbockalm (approx. 2-hour walk) or fishing in the fish pond about 2 km away (1 fishing rod for hire). The high-altitude air and the cosy beds ensure a good night’s sleep.

Tip: Adventure gold panning! Equipped with wellies and a gold panning pan, you can dig for gold at the original gold panning site Bodenhaus. Good fortune is waiting!
