Arrival: Simple access on a partially tarmac, partially unprepared mountain road. In winter, snow chains are recommended.

Very close to the sky..
The location of this hut could be described as “above the clouds”; it’s isolated position gives you an amazing views of the Saualpe.
The Jakob Hütte was built in 1989 by grandfather Jakob for the purpose of farming the Alm, hence the name of the hut. Originally it was built to provide cows with shelter, and then in 2009 it was converted into cosy holiday accommodation of a modern quality, carefully considering its traditional manner of construction and Alpine style in the process.
A stone fireplace in the “Stube” creates a homely warmth. Electricity is generated by a photovoltaic system.
The hut’s location is the start of many family friendly walks, and invites you to balance exercise with relaxing and enjoying. The hut is surrounded by green, lush meadows where animals graze in summer. In front of the hut, there is a lovely terrace, a stone barbecue, and a spring.
Tip: the owners also own the Kleinhinterberger Hütte, just 1 km away and offering refreshment.

- Cosy “Stube” room with banquette seating, kitchen with tiled wood-burning stove for cooking (integrated oven and hotplate) and heating, gas cooker (2 hobs), sink, espresso machine, fridge with freezer section, couch, satellite TV, radio

Upper floor (accessed by outside steps):
- Lobby area with cloakroom and small wardrobe
- Bedroom with double bed (1.4 m wide)
- 3-bed roomed (double bed and single bed), single bed can be pulled out for 6th person
