Eggental Valley holiday region – between Dolomite giants and Alpine glow
Picturesque mountain peaks and a legendary ‘rainbow lake‘ are the landmarks of this Ladinian holiday region.
The sight of Lago di Carezza in 1,550 m lets the heart beat faster. A spectacle of nature in a class of its own takes place at the gateway to the Dolomites north of Bolzano. The massive peaks of the Latemar reflect in the heavenly blue-green water of the ‘Eye of the Dolomites‘. The rock faces of the Rosengarten are immersed in a glowing red at sunset – the so-called Alpine glow.
800 kilometres of the finest mountain bike tours offer something for every nature lover – from trail fans to altitude chasers, easy or challenging hiking tours, vie ferrate or high routes.
Two ski resorts, Carezza Ski and Obereggen – on the slopes of the Rosengarten and Latemar, invite to winter sports in the Eggental Valley in winter. Apart from 86 kilometres of pistes, winter fun can be enjoyed on 100 kilometres of cross-country ski tracks, at seven toboggan runs and in two snow parks.
Sampling the culinary delights of the South Tyrolean regions is an absolute must. Good traditional fare and local dishes are served at quaint huts and taverns, tasting especially wonderful after an action-packed day.
