Holiday all year between glacier, mountain and lake Unterüberschrift
Zell am See-Kaprun is one of the most diverse all-year holiday destinations in the heart of Austria. No other region in the Alps offers so many spectacular excursion destinations and alpine sights and attractions so close together.
Mighty mountains, gentle pastures. Lake Zell as well as the eternal ice of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and the untamed forces of nature in the Hohe Tauern National Park display their appeal in every season. Cable cars take you to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, and the Glacier Jets transport you to the region’s highest point in 3000 metres above sea level.
The region offers a wide range of activities 365 days a year. Lake Zell, with water of drinking water quality, nestles idyllically in the valley. The mountains rise high above, some of them very high, rugged and glaciered, and the locals live between them in the valley, in the villages, small towns and hamlets. Book your accommodation in the villages between mountains and lake. All you have to do is choose whether you would like to stay in a quaint, secluded hut, a holiday home or an apartment in the centre.
Winter in Zell am See-Kaprun ranges from eternal ice on the 3.000 metres high Kitzsteinhorn to the shores of the frozen surface of Lake Zell. This stunning scenery is home of the entire range of winter sports. The three very diverse ski resorts Kitzsteinhorn, Schmittenhöhe and Maiskogel offer everything the heart of pros and connoisseurs, families and beginners desires. The ski region will join the network of ski resorts of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn from 2019. Anyone who is looking for ski adventures away from the pistes will find a variety of winter sports activities in this region: from gentle cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking and ski touring through snow-covered winter landscapes to toboggan races and ice sports on the natural sheet of ice of Lake Zell.
The crystal-clear water of Lake Zell invites to swimming, water ski, sailing and surfing in summer. Cyclists will also love it here. Whether climbing the mountains sporty by mountain bike or leisurely cycling around Lake Zell with the family: the region’s gigantic network of cycle tracks offers something for everyone. The Zell am See-Kaprun region offers hiking enthusiasts countless hiking trails in all altitudes - from glacier to Lake Zell. Depending on sporty ambition, summits can be conquered on foot or by cable car.
