Tennengau – the counterpart to the city
---------------------------------------

It is brimming with customs, culture and activities. The Salzach Valley and Lammer Valley in Tennengau are located in the middle of the Dachstein Mountains, which are well known to hikers, mountain bikers, and all winter sports enthusiasts. Castles such as **Hohenwerfen Castle**, stately palaces, museums such as the **Salzburg Open-Air Museum** and the **Eisriesenwelt ice caves** captivate children and adults alike with their splendor and history.

In Dachstein West in the Lammertal valley, you can't miss the family region of Abtenau. Here, traditions play a particularly important role in every season, as does enjoyment. Award-winning Salzburg specialities delight visitors in restaurants and at festivals. Alpine summer, harvest festival and Advent markets keep old traditions alive and ensure plenty of holiday fun.

More than 160 kilometers of slopes showcase the winter sports paradise of Dachstein West, Karkogel and Postalm. The landscape in and around Annaberg-Lungötz also offers the perfect vantage point. Here, the mountains seem particularly close. As an alternative to skiing in the Dachstein West ski region, visitors can enjoy the panorama from the 127 kilometers of cross-country trails. The Tennengau mountains can also be explored on extensive winter hikes and ski tours.
