Holiday in the Nationalpark Kalkalpen – so wild and diverse

In 2019, the tourism regions Steyr, Ennstal, Oberes Kremstal and Steyrtal merged and became Steyr and the National Park Region.

This is your holiday in this fantastic landscape of the National Park. From the south-east of Upper Austria, between the Ennstal and the Steyrtal valleys to the Pyhrn-Priel region, the beauty of the region takes you back to the roots.
Learning to appreciate and love the last great forest wilderness in the heart of Austria is easy here. Get drawn into the rhythm of nature, breathe the wonderfully clean air of the deep forest, with its nuances of wood, earth, moss, lichen and wild mushrooms.
75% of the National Park area is wilderness - this is unique in Austria.
It is a privilege to be able to spend the best time of the year in and around the reclaimed wilderness. The national park does not shut itself away to protect; it is open to all those who want to
experience, discover, explore, do research and relax. Hiking trails criss-cross the mountain slopes, forest roads are designated as riding, hiking and mountain bike trails.

From the summit experience - the highest in the Sengsen Mountains is the Hohe Nock with 1,963 metres, your adventure holiday will take you to cultural enjoyment in, for example, the 1000-year old town of Steyr - the region’s cultural and economic centre. The highlight of the medieval old town is the town square with the over 600-year-old Bummerlhaus building, the town's landmark. The mighty Lamberg Castle, whose history tells of the town's founding period, should be a must on your
sightseeing list.
