Vacation in front of cinematic scenery
It’s hardly surprising that major directors and film producers chose the town of Werfen, close to Salzburg, as a location for their films. The global success of films such as “The Sound of Music“ or “Where Eagles Dare” was due in no small part to the unique mountain backdrop and the mighty Hohenwerfen Castle. The world’s largest ice cave, the “World of the Ice Giants”, has been the subject of numerous documentaries and a great deal of research work. Being able to visit them is a privilege that we hope will remain for many years to come.
Just like Maria von Trapp from “The Sound of Music”, you can walk alongside lush meadows and admire the Tennen Mountains that rise up into the sky behind your holiday accommodation.
Nature as far as the eye can see!
The typical country home with its dark gable and blossoming window boxes has been divided in half. The owners have lovingly prepared one half of the building for holiday guests. So you can spend your holiday by yourself in this half (around 85 m²) that also has its own entrance. The kitchen and eating area have been renovated and modernised. The bedrooms are cosy with a lot of wooden furnishings.
The most beautiful summer hikes start right on your doorstep
The owners will give you their own personal hiking recommendations. You should definitely plan hikes to the “Diel Alm” or “Ostpreußenhütte”. Experience impressive nature in the Blühnbach Valley. Film lovers can set off on “The Sound of Music Trail” and hike through the locations where it was filmed, where you’ll also find the lyrics from the corresponding songs. If you’re looking for a bit more action, you should try out riding a jet boat on the Salzach or have a ride on the Flying Fox.
Romantic winter
The large ski regions such as the Skiwelt Amadé, Werfenweng or Mühlbach on the Hochkönig are just a few kilometres away. So you definitely won’t miss out on enjoying fun on the slopes. Yet you should also experience the “calmer” winter activities in this traditional region. The lovely Christmas market in Hohenwerfen Castle will captivate you with culinary treats and contemplative sounds. The Salzburg Christmas Market in Mozart’s stunning home city is just 30 minutes away by car.
