In the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the green heart of SalzburgerLand beats to the rhythm of nature. Your holiday home is tucked away on the edge of the forest between the country’s highest mountains and steepest waterfalls, at the gateway to the Weißsee Glacier World.
The village of Uttendorf is only a short distance from the Alpine town of Zell am See & Kaprun. The crystal-clear lake of Zell am See and the charming town centre with boutiques, restaurants and events typical of the region attract visitors in summer.
In your alpine hut, on the other hand, you are at dizzy heights, far away from the hustle and bustle and the daily grind
As soon as you arrive, you realise that peace, distance and pure nature await you here. Step through the small wooden gate onto your terrace with a cinematic panoramic view of the Hohe Tauern mountains. Look forward to unforgettable barbecue evenings under the starry sky.
The quaint hut with sun-blackened wooden beams, old wooden shutters and typical wooden doors is simple, authentic and exactly how you would imagine a mountain hut in the Alps:
- earth closet,
- freezing cold well
- and (modern) outdoor shower included.
The simple fence keeps the grazing cattle and visiting wildlife from the adjacent forest from peeping through the kitchen window.
The absolute highlight is the entrance area with:
- traditional tiled stove,
- cosy sitting area
- and a bar.
The living room, for cooking and spending time together, is the heart of the hut
Show off your cooking skills at the old wood-burning stove. Regional delicacies such as Kasnock'n or roasted potatoes taste best here. If cooking is not on the agenda, then the Grubenalm, 3 km away, is recommended. The creaky old wooden staircase leads to the renovated bedrooms. With new wood panelling and refurbished floors, a good night’s sleep is guaranteed here.
The owners of the hut, Walter and Gerti, have spruced up this unique alpine hut with great attention to detail. They will show you on site how everything works, and they have the best hiking tips for you. There is a lot of action around the alpine pasture. Especially the kids explore the forest, discover nature and use the adjacent stream to build dams.
Tip: Plan a hiking tour through the Wiegenwald forest. The oldest Swiss pines in the Hohe Tauern National Park grow here. On hot summer days, we recommend cooling off in the Uttendorf swimming lake with adjacent large playground for all ages.
