Pure Val Gardena! A melting pot of pleasure & culture
Have you ever been on holiday in South Tyrol? If not, then you will certainly be familiar with the raves about the special features of the holiday regions that are considered a melting pot of landscape, culture and cuisine.
Between Italian lightness and Alpine hospitality, the Ladin heart beats in the Dolomites region of Val Gardena - especially here in Ortisei with its historic pedestrian zone. As an outsider, one can only puzzle over the dialects, but in Val Gardena, Ladin enjoys the status of an official and school language. The locals are at least as proud of their world-famous mountain massifs in the Dolomites as they are of their own language. With the Odle Group, Cirspitzen, Sella and the Sassolungo, there are more natural highlights on your holiday programme than you can experience in just one holiday.
Fortunately, at Almliesl we have this particularly beautiful serviced mountain hut on the Raschötz Hochalm in our programme for you. Here it's easy to decide to spend the best time out of the year twice, three times and many times.
In the heart of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park lies the extensive Rasciesa mountain pasture area, which is called Resciesa in Ladin. As an Almliesl guest, you are a VIP with your own parking space in the valley and free travel on the funicular railway that takes you to your holiday home.
The completely renovated mountain hut with its large sun terrace offers an unrivalled panoramic view of
- the Sassolungo,
- the massive Sella massif and
- the Marmolada.
You will spend your holiday in the new living rooms, which are accessible via a separate entrance behind the mountain hut. They are characterised by lots of wood with a modern gallery on which the double bed is located. Two bathrooms and a spacious balcony with a view of the natural paradise are the icing on the cake.
Culinary delights are a top priority in the restaurant of the beautiful alpine hut.
The hosts personally serve regional delicacies with Mediterranean, Ladin and Tyrolean influences. Always accompanied by the right South Tyrolean quality wine or a delicious sip of Pils beer. The two cosy wooden parlours, one of which has a tiled stove, are a place of enjoyment and encounters. Nowhere else is it easier to get into conversation with locals and guests and make friends.
An alpine summer with friends
The Hochalm is located within the mighty Geisler group and reaches up to over 2,303 metres above sea level. The Raschötz forest is part of the alpine pasture and is just as worth discovering as the numerous hikes across the extensive meadows, e.g. to Villnöss or to Außerraschötz. Also plan to visit the Holy Cross Chapel, the Raschötzhütte hut or the Cason Schwaige (stone construction).
The hut hosts have the best hiking and excursion tips for you. Daniel is a bike guide and knows the insider tips of the region.
Quiet time out and winter pleasures at 2,200 m
The best thing first: if you want to head down into the valley in winter, hop on a toboggan and off you go, between snow-covered fir trees and glistening snowfields with the most beautiful views of the Dolomites. Of course, you can also opt for a ride on the funicular railway, which is always reserved for you.
In winter, the Hochalm is an insider tip for snow sports enthusiasts.
Skiers and snowboarders are the first on the piste because they can use the ski connection to the Dolomiti Superski area Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi. The world-famous combination of 12 ski areas in the Dolomites can be explored with just one ski pass. The longest ski slope in South Tyrol, "La Longia", takes you on over 10 km of pistes from Seceda all the way back to St. Urlich. A real experience, past natural beauty, wide slopes, through a canyon and past a frozen waterfall.
If you want to take things a little slower, put your skins on your touring skis or strap on your snowshoes and set off from the front door on the most beautiful touring ski routes in Ortisei. One tip is the tour to the Brogles Alm with no. 35, which leads through pine forests and over the snow-covered slopes of the Innerraschötz with the best views of the majestic Geisler peaks.
Back in the cosy hut, the warming tiled stove in the parlour and a heart-warming mulled wine await.
Your real time-out awaits here in Ortisei.
In summer and winter alike, this is your place to come home to.
TIP: Arts and crafts characterise the image of the region. Numerous wood carvers have made a name for themselves in Val Gardena. Their works are known worldwide.
