Slow down the senses in Salzburg's Lungau region
Summer, sun, metres of altitude!
Salzburger Lungau is located in one of the sunniest regions in Austria, between the Radstädter Tauern and the Carinthian Nockberge mountains. 15 idyllic villages, none below 1,000 metres in altitude, are proudly part of the Salzburg Lungau UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
One of these places is Tamsweg, in the centre of the largest biosphere park in Austria, this municipality also stands for the special quality of life and nature. It is all about preserving biodiversity and safeguarding regional cultural values. An exemplary project in harmony between people and nature.
Unspoilt nature and varied holiday moments
In a clearing at the edge of the forest, surrounded by lush alpine meadows and fragrant herbs, this marvellous alpine hut awaits you.
The sun-tanned wooden façade of the charming hut can be seen from afar. From the balcony, which you can reach from the bedroom, you will be overwhelmed by the view in the early hours of the morning, when the night mist rises and the deer look up at you shyly.
The best way to plan your day, action-packed or not, is on the sunbed with a freshly brewed coffee from the wood-burning stove.
Then lace up your hiking boots or grease up your mountain bike and off you go to the Preberspitz, for example.
The Prebersee, an alpine moorland lake at 1,514 m and an absolute natural highlight, is only around 1 km away to cool off.
For families, there are plenty of relaxed tours that end at catered huts and spoil you with regional specialities. The "Ludlalm" with a great playground for the kids is only around 1.5 km away from your hut. The Grazer Hütte and the Halterhütte are also known for their local specialities.
Coming back is like coming home from the old days!
After an eventful day, come back to your mountain hut with its babbling fountain and spacious garden. The fire pit is eager to be lit so that everyone can enjoy a barbecue with sausages or marshmallows. This is a perfect day on the mountain pasture.
And the hut has even more to offer:
- Outdoor solar shower with privacy screen
- Parking spaces directly at the hut in the fenced area
- Lockable shed for mountain bikes & co.
Running cold water is only available in the hut in a separate storeroom and of course in front of the hut in the well. Freshness kick included!
For the food you want to keep cool, pack it in a waterproof bag and the freezing cold water in the well will do the rest.
A little further away, in the outdoor bathroom next to the solar shower, is the outhouse hut. So that you don't have to make the journey outside in the evening, there is a solution with a dry separation toilet. A sustainable, quiet place - odourless, without chemicals and water, it is simple and self-sufficient.
"Real.being." is the slogan of Salzburger Lungau. "So real!" say we at Almliesl. Together we mean the same thing, namely to convey the real thing, pure enjoyment, getting back to the roots.
Tip: Culture and tradition are very much alive in the Lungau communities. Whether it's the alpine summer or the farmers' autumn, the Samson carrying or the Prangstangen festivals. Celebrate traditional festivals and experience customs up close. It's best to ask the owner of the hut, he knows all about it.
