The Sölktäler Nature Park in the Niedere Tauern has been designated as a European nature reserve because of its many special animal and plant species and sensitive habitats. Almliesl guests, who spend their valuable holiday time in this region, particularly appreciate the unique flora & fauna and above all the PEACE & QUIET.
Especially here, there are no crowds fighting for space on the summits - no cable cars lifting tired hikers and bikers to dizzy heights, no "adventure mountain" to entertain the kids.
Here you can look forward to vast, lonely alpine pastures, mighty mountain landscapes and crystal-clear streams and mountain lakes.

The starting point for wonderful nature experiences during your holiday is the village of St. Nikolai

Feel at home in this spacious country house, surrounded by fragrant fields and the picturesque village centre. The traditions typical of the region are alive and lived in the village. Be part of village festivals, driving down the cattle from the alpine pastures or beautiful Advent markets.

The holiday home was recently partially renovated by the owners.

• The romantic highlight of the living room is the lounge area by the tiled stove with viewing window
• The cooker also has a separate wood-burning stove for heating and cooking. Mulled wine or hot chocolate can be heated and kept warm here

In front of the house, in the spacious garden, you can relax on the terrace of the separate garden house. After an active day in the mountains, dinner is prepared on the brick-built barbecue and simply enjoyed with a glass of wine. Ask the owners if you would like to use the mattress dormitory in the garden house as a sleeping space.

He has given us the following tips already:
"Plan hikes to the Hohensee lake, it is the most beautiful mountain lake in Styria! Family-friendly hikes take you to the Neustein and Knallstein. There is also a serviced hut at the well-known Kaltenbach lakes. The hut is famous for its regional delicacies.“

Winter between soft tourism and fun on the pistes

The municipality of Sölk is located on the edge of the Schladming-Dachstein winter sports area. In St. Nikolai, you are 40 km away from the Ski amadé ski region with 230 kilometres of pistes and 81 ultra-modern lifts.

But there is also another option:
Only 100 m away from your holiday home you can access an extensive cross-country skiing network. For kids and skiing beginners there is a local T-bar lift. Put on your touring skis right outside the front door and explore the trail to the Hansnhütte, for example. The region is known for its 20 or so diverse ski tours.
The nearest larger ski area is on the Galsterberg with 12 kilometres of pistes, 2 fun slopes and a Gallic Kinderland. The illuminated natural toboggan run makes everyone's heart beat faster.

Tip: A well-known excursion destination is Großsölk Castle, which dates back to the Middle Ages. Today it houses the nature park house with nature park laboratory and is the venue for various exhibitions.
