- Rattensbach Valley hiking region
- Rustic flair, cosy lounge area
- Organic farm produce
Look forward to a romantic hut holiday in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park! You are in Niedernsill, one of the most picturesque villages in the region, not far from Zell am See - Kaprun, surrounded by the Kitzbühel Alps and over 30 three-thousand-metre-high mountains.
Traditional and cosy on the alpine pasture
At your self-catering hut in the Rattensbachtal, a small side valley, only cows and the neighbouring marmot will occasionally check up on you. In the morning, you wake up to the crystal-clear mountain air and a first-class panorama cinema. Let the impressions sink in while enjoying a cup of fresh coffee before you start your day in the mountains.
In 2000, the hut was newly built as round timber construction with great attention to detail. The cows from the adjacent stable can usually be found on the alpine meadows. They enjoy the wonderfully lush meadows and fragrant herbs and thus provide the best milk in the region. In early and late summer, you are welcome to help with milking and looking after the animals.
Even though life on an alpine pasture is simple, you don't have to go without:
- Cosy living room with sitting area
- Old wood-burning stove typical of the region for cooking and heating
- Electricity for light is provided by photovoltaics
- Hot water in the bathroom is provided by a hot water tank (wood-burning stove) for heating
- The outdoor refrigerator in a covered alcove next to the hut is gas-powered
- Herb garden for free use
The owners of the hut own another hut on the Hochalm just a few metres further up the mountain.
Countless hiking tours and mountain bike trails start right at your hut’s door
The Gämskragen Summit, for example, with the mightiest summit cross in Central Europe, or the Scheibenhöhe Summit, come up trumps with a fantastic view. Information material on hiking tours and activities is of course available at the hut or in the Almliesl Tourenpool.
The best way to reward yourself after an active day or even after doing sweet nothing is with a wonderful barbecue beneath the stars. If requested, the owner of the hut will organise a musical hut evening with farm products. Plus, freshly chilled drinks from the well and a dessert made from berries you've picked yourself. This trumps every gourmet menu - promised!
Tip: The ICE Arena at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier area also provides snow adventures and winter fun for the whole family during the summer months.
