Your bed on an alpine pasture in the "Trattenbachtal Valley"
Hans, the innkeeper of the hut, greets you with “Welcome to my alpine hut!“. “Sit down and have a drink“ is his warm welcome. You will feel good and enjoy the panoramic view to the peaks of the Hohe Tauern and the Kitzbühel Alps.
Hans shows you his hut and explains the facilities and details. The heart of the hut is the cosy public room with bar and counter. The alpine hut is furnished with plenty of bright timber and the bathrooms and toilets are to modern standards. The rooms with solid-wood beds are very spacious and comfortable. The Alm Suite has its own shower and toilet and is perfect for families.
Your alpine breakfast awaits either in the public room or on the cosy terrace in the morning. Tasty meals and hearty jause are available all day on request.
There is plenty to discover around the hut. Children love to look after the cows in the adjacent barn under the supervision of Andreas, the Alpine dairy farmer. The milk for breakfast couldn’t be any fresher. The fish pond with waterwheel is also popular with children who often try to catch a fish for dinner. The most beautiful hiking tours and mountain bike tours of the Trattenbachtal Valley in the Hohe Tauern National Park start directly at the hut’s front door. A highlight is the guided tour to the Großvenediger, Austria’s second-highest mountain. Hans knows the most beautiful routes and tells the Almliesl guests where they can find the best places for picking wild mushrooms.
The campfire for grilling will be crackling on request when you return. The best meat for grilling can be purchased from Hans. Game, hunted by Hans, is the tastiest meat.
