Pure nature in the Hohe Tauern National Park

This historic alpine hut is over 100 years old and is, apart from some modernisation, in its original state. You live in one section of the hut, the alpine dairy farmer lives in the other section; each section has its own entrance.

The century-old history of the hut has been captured and preserved here. Old, dark wood has been combined with bright native fir wood. Thick walls, dark wooden ceilings and in part crooked wooden floors create the rustic ambience here. Here you still find something unique; an authentic farmer’s living room with original East Tyrolean farmer’s stove, which cannot be heated anymore but is presented like in a museum. The gnarled staircases and the creaking doors with old wooden locks bring a special charm to this holiday hut. Many typical accessories from bygone times like cooking utensils, tools and old pictures decorate the walls and remind of the life of the mountain farmers in the past. This rustic mountain hut is perfect for anyone who wants to experience a holiday close to nature. But you don’t have to go without comfort like electricity and water.

Children will feel happy here. They can build damns in the little stream next to the hut and experience nature with all their senses. Here you are in one of Austria’s most beautiful hiking areas. The “Gschlösstal“ region won the Austrian competition 9 Plätze 9 Schätze (9 Places, 9 Treasures) staged and broadcast by the ORF! A visit to the two alpine villages Aussergschlöss and Innergschloss are absolutely recommended! Culinary delicacies can be enjoyed at the Tauernhaus, Innergschlöss and Aussergschlöss inns.
