The Leitner Hochalm is located totally on its own, 3 km above the hamlet of Unterberg in Maria Alm. Originally the hut was a "Scherm" - a shelter for the cows.
The owner has created a typical alpine hut lovingly renovated with lots of wood. An atmosphere of bygone years can be enjoyed in the cosy living room, cooking on the woodburning stove which also heats the hut. Light the stove for hot shower water and the bathroom will also be warmed. Not having a TV and radio is no problem when you enjoy a fun game of cards with friends.
Just in front of the hut a spring splashes and the fish swim about in the small pond. Enjoy the luxury of absolute peace and an impressive view to the mountain range of the “Steinernes Meer” and the Hochkönig.
Our tip: We recommend a walk to the Hundstein, at 2117m the highest grass mountain in Pinzgau and a pause for refreshment at the “Jetzbachalm”. This hut is one of the well-kept secrets of the region almost only known to the locals.
