Your summer on an alpine pasture

The Grossglockner – Austria’s landmark in the Hohe Tauern National Park – sits proudly high above the surrounding regions. The route along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road leads through the picturesque pilgrimage destination of Heiligenblut. Tradition, customs and culture are still lived and celebrated here and Almliesl guests experience a truly typical holiday in the mountains.
It is understandable that you want to spend the most beautiful time of the year at this historic hut surrounded by nature. The hut was built by the old farmers as alpine farmer‘s hut for the simple life on an alpine pasture in 1808 and is today a place to reflect and slow down. In 2000, the old hut, including the barn and threshing floor was renovated for guests who are looking for quiet and originality. The facade, with its old sunburnt beams, and the quaint charm of the hut have been preserved.

  • The indoor facilities have been panelled with bright timber.
  • The kitchen, cosy and of moderate standard, meets all requirements.
  • The cooker works with electricity and the wood-fired stove does not only provide the hot water but is also responsible for a cosy-warm living atmosphere.
  • The mountain air as well as the quaint solid-wood beds from bygone times ensure a good night’s sleep.
  • The sleeping area in the dormer, between creaky beams, is the perfect place for reading scary stories and having a pyjama party.

The terrace offers an incredible view across the surrounding mountains and valleys. Hiking and mountain bike tours start directly at the hut’s front door, next to babbling mountain streams and the valuable Angus cattle of the owners.

The world of alpine pastures is one huge adventure playground for kids and teenagers. Exploring and discovery tours are on the agenda every day. They quickly realise that TV, mobile phone and tablet are absolutely not needed here because this is where real life happens! Family-friendly hiking tours to Heiligenblut, to the highest waterfall of the Mölltal Valley, gold panning in the Fleißtal Valley or lovely exhibitions as alternative on rainy days – there is no time for boredom here.
