Your mountain holiday in the “Nock’n“
The pride of the Nock Mountains region is the Nock Mountains Biosphere Park, awarded as World Heritage cultural site by the UNESCO. 7 municipalities have come together to show the world how “gentle” tourism works. In harmony with nature and with emphasis on enjoyment, this alpine hut is also a place for slowing down.
In 1960, the hut served as mountain accommodation for the Alpine herdswoman and dairymaid who looked after the cattle and processed its milk at this picturesque location. The adjacent barn, the old walls and the weathered wooden beams are now witnesses of this time.
“Oh my, is this beautiful!“ is the first thought that comes to mind when you enter the alpine hut. Having been renovated, the hut offers all amenities. Flat TV, dishwasher and ceramic glass cooktop let you quickly forget the hard work of the farmers on the yard and in the mountains. The spacious living room was and is a place for getting together. The quaint wood-fired stove, which heats the living room and can also be used for cooking, is possibly the oldest piece in the kitchen. The renovated brick tiles and plenty of timber dominate just as much as the old wooden floorboards in the living areas. Bathroom and toilet are to today’s standards.
The brick barbeque in the garden invites to enjoy small grill specialities, while the children treat the ponies and horses of the owner to some cuddles and affection. Smaller pieces of forest and the adjacent mountain brook attract the kids like a magnet – time to explore and discover.
Countless hiking and mountain bike tours start directly at the hut; for example, the trail to the “Schweinebichl“ towards the village of Ebene Reichenau. Also recommended is the “Goggauwirt Hütte“ hut, which is only 20 minutes away. The first summit cross experience can be enjoyed at the ”Falkert-Spitz“ after a one-hour walk. A visit to the Heidi Alm, a children’s adventure park, is recommended for younger kids.
Small but beautiful is the family ski resort in the Heidi Alm BergResort at the Falkert. An insider tip for a skiing holiday with children, ideal for beginners and perfect for leisure skiers. Skiing directly to the hut is possible in good snow conditions.
Cross-country skiing, ski touring, winter hiking, snowshoe hiking or tobogganing can be enjoyed here away from stress and hectic. Ice skating at Lake Falkertsee in the Heidi Alm Children’s Adventure Park is especially popular.
Tip: A visit to the reptile zoo in Patergassen is an interesting alternative on rainy days.
