Winter holidays - Eisacktal

The Eisack Valley is one of South Tyrol’s main valleys. Geographically viewed, it leads from the source of the Eisack on the Brenner to where it flows into the Etsch in Bozen. It has been a meeting point of Mediterranean and Northern cultural influences for millennia. Its old farms, picturesque villages, and the historical towns of Sterzing, Brixen and Klausen bear witness to a cultural scene that has been uniquely moulded by craftsmen, painters, and sculptors through various style epochs.

The Eisack Valley is surrounded by numerous mountain peaks and flanks, which are very steep in places. It is protected from the cold north wind and often benefits from warm southern breezes. The various vineyards that cling to the Valley’s slopes are the best proof of the Mediterranean climate enjoyed by this region. This is a place at the gateway to the Dolomites where Alpine calm and Italian joie de vivre mix.
