Travelling with dogs and cats:
- If you wish to bring your four legged friends with you for a holiday in Austria, it is necessary for them
to have a rabies certificate. The rabies injection must have been given at least 30 days before the
journey commences and may not be older than 12 months ( for cats 6 months). You must carry an
EU innoculation certificate and a lead for each dog with you. As of July 2004 all dogs, cats, and ferrets
must have a microchip in the ear, or up until 2001, be tattooed on the ear. Further information is
available at all Automobile Clubs or at a Veterinary surgeon's.
- Please be careful that grazing animals and deer are not disturbed by your dog. The dog's owner is
responsible for any damage or accidents caused by their animal. As an animal friend you will certainly
have understanding for these rules and ensure that our native fauna is allowed to live in peace.
